The name of National Grand Bank tips its hat to Marblehead's brave merchant seamen and commercial fishermen who made their money from the sea and the Grand Banks fishing grounds 1000 miles off the coast of Massachusetts. The bank was founded in 1831 and continues to serve the community and the men who continue to make living from the sea.
