South Carolina AmeriScape Morris Island Light
The lighthouse is unusual in that it now stands several hundred feet offshore. When constructed in 1876 the light was approximately 1,200 feet from the water's edge. However, the construction in 1889 of the jetties which protect the shipping lanes leading to Charleston Harbor altered ocean currents, resulting in the rapid erosion of Morris Island. In 1962 the Morris Island Light was decommissioned and replaced by the new Charleston Light.
Purchase without a stand for hanging on the Christmas tree or add a stand for year round display.
The AmeriScape ornament is our signature creation. Each wonderfully detailed ornament is individually handcast and hand-painted by Hestia's dedicated artisans, and can truly be considered a work of art. They are 3 1/2" in diameter, made of bonded marble dust, and weigh approximately 3 ounces.
