2003 Marblehead Annual Ornament - Black Joe's Tavern
Named for a black Revolutionary War soldier, Joseph Brown, who owned and ran the tavern with his wife, Auntie 'Creese, for many years. Auntie 'Creese was the creator of that favorite Marblehead treat, Joe Frogger's. Joe Froggers are a ginger cookie which were part of the provisions of all Marblehead ships as they did not go bad. The Tavern is now a family home. It was purchased from their daughter in 1863 by the Barry family who still own it today.
Purchase without a stand for hanging on the Christmas tree or add a stand for year round display.
The AmeriScape ornament is our signature creation. Each wonderfully detailed ornament is individually handcast and hand-painted by Hestia's dedicated artisans, and can truly be considered a work of art. They are 3 1/2" in diameter, made of bonded marble dust, and weigh approximately 3 ounces.
